12x39m fully dressed marquee, December installation, restricted access site.
The brief:
A private client came to us with a clear vision — a 50th birthday celebration at home, worthy of the occasion. With 160 guests, a full kitchen operation and live entertainment on the agenda, this wasn't a garden party. It was a full event build, and it needed to deliver on every level.
Challenges of Winter Marquee Hire on a Restricted Access Site
December installations come with their own set of demands. Short days, unpredictable weather and wind meant every element of the winter marquee had to be built to perform, not just look the part.
The site added another layer of complexity. As a private residence, vehicle access was far from the installation point, requiring full ground protection across the approach — protecting both the property and our ability to get the job done efficiently.
Our Winter Marquee Hire Solution for a 160-Guest Event:
We delivered a 12x39m clearspan marquee with an internal 12x6m kitchen extension, set on pine flooring throughout. Strategic placement of an extensive heating package kept the temperature comfortable even with a constantly opening door on a winter night, this is essential for a winter marquee hire. Solid doors were fitted at the main entrance and the catering rear — keeping the elements out without compromising the flow of the event.
The lighting was designed to evolve through the night. Black 8-arm chandeliers and sweeping festoon lighting created warmth and atmosphere, with uplighters lifting the mood as the evening progressed. The kitchen was fully lit with bright LED lighting to keep the catering team working without a hitch. A full ivory interior lining tied everything together, turning a winter marquee into a genuinely warm and inviting space.
To open the room up, windows ran along one side and a 12x9m clear roof section brought the night sky in — on a clear December evening, that's a feature in itself.
Inside, round tables seated 10 guests each, dressed with oak cross-back chairs and table linens. Front and centre, a large parquet dance floor anchored the room with staging set and ready for the night's entertainment.
The result:
Over 160 guests filled the space and from the first course to the last song, everything ran without a hitch. The kitchen kept pace all night, the room held its warmth, and what had been a garden 48 hours earlier felt like it had always been a venue. That's the job done right.
Planning an outdoor event? No site too complex, no brief too ambitious. we would love to hear about it.
